LEVITANDO EN EL PAISAJE. SALA PRADO DEL ATENEO DE MADRID
CARLOS AQUILINO
September 16 -30, 2016

Carlos Aquilino will be featured at Sala Prado 19, Ateneo de Madrid to present his work Levitando en el paisaje that will be displayed from 16 to 30 September, 2016. In this exhibition the artist presents a new series of works, all of them executed in oil on canvas and paper. Carlos Aquilino has been exhibiting his work since 1975 in numerous solo and group exhibitions in different countries. In the paintings at this exhibition the artist shows compositions of breathless surrealism, where color, used as an emotional response to the environment, creates an atmosphere of mysterious voluptuousness. To quote the poet Phillip Ward in the original text written for this exhibition, «Each painting is like a transcendent portrait into a parallel reality where the subjects are reminiscent of wingless angels as seen under a gentle lens of an ethereal microscope. They are protozoan like with unseen wisps of painted energy in their wake…» Carlos Aquilino was born and lives in Madrid. Instinctive and intuitive finds inspiration in every aspect of his daily life. Through his unflinching gaze, he captures life’s deeper truths, gleaned through a lifetime of experience and travel in his long and varied career in art.
